Cello Shop Witney

As one of Oxfordshire's well known Luthiers, I am proud to feature some of my own handmade cellos, alongside some individual older cellos and new student instruments.

We have listed a small selection of our cellos here, but we always hold a wider range in our shop for all student levels with most priced between £600 - £6000. I also stock a wide selection of bows, from student to master.

We always recommend that you visit our shop to try out our instruments and bows.

If you have any particular requirements, please do get in touch.

Thomas Kennedy 1828, with original label. Signed and dated by Thomas Kennedy (positioned on the top left of the inside back).

Thomas Kennedy made some of the most superb sounding cellos ever and this is certainly one of them.  It is a superb chamber/solo instrument with an exceptional tone quality throughout the whole spectrum of the instrument.

David Collins 1991

This is a Montagnana model and the stunning honey-coloured varnish is crackled and opaque.  David Collins was a local Oxfordshire Luthier and very prolific.

This is one of the most outstanding tonal cellos that I have seen and heard in long time.

A beautiful 7/8 English cello, circa early 1900's, maker unknown but very individual.

This is an extraordinary and unique instrument which has the tone and power of something much bigger.

It is an impelling instrument that you simply would not want to strop playing!
